Tritium Gas Light Source is characterized by a small, hermetically sealed and tritium gas-filled glass tube. A very thin coating of luminous substance is applied to the inner surface of the tube. Electrons are constantly emitted by the tritium gas and activate the luminous matter. In turn, the luminescent material has the property to convert the electrical energy that is generated by the tritium gas into light. This is called self-illumination. No external energy source, such as sunlight or battery power is required.

The luminosity of Tritium Gas Light Sources is a hundred times greater than other comparable systems. Therefore, TGLS guarantee perfect readability, whether it’s day or night.

Tritium Gas Light Sources are safe for humans, animals and the environment. Neither the emitted electrons nor the gaseous tritium can escape the tightly sealed glass tubes. In addition, the Tritium Gas Light Sources integrated in our Hyperbar^® Extreme model are protected and sealed by the Hyperbar^® liquid.
